Longwalk Redevelopment
The Long Walk Redevelopment
The Long Walk area in Dundalk is part of an ongoing urban regeneration effort led by Louth County Council. The focus is on revitalizing this part of the town to make it a more vibrant, functional space for residents, businesses, and visitors. While specific details about the full scope of the redevelopment are still emerging, the council has been engaging the public to gather input on how to shape the area. The goal seems to be enhancing the Long Walk’s role as a community and commercial hub, potentially involving upgrades to infrastructure, public spaces, and local amenities.
There will be a Community Drop-in Event on Thursday 10th April 2025 from 12 noon to 6pm at The Community Room, The Long Walk Shopping Centre, Dundalk Louth County Council are inviting the local community to offer insights into the Longwalk area of Dundalk. There’s also been chatter about the Long Walk Shopping Centre itself. A planning application was submitted by Lindat Limited in early 2025 for a partial redevelopment. This includes merging several units to create larger retail spaces and a café, updating shopfronts, removing a canopy, and adding new lighting and signage. It’s a relatively modest project aimed at modernizing the centre rather than a complete overhaul.
The council’s broader vision for the Long Walk area seems to tie into other Dundalk projects, like the St Nicholas Quarter upgrades.
