Ciarán was elected as an independent councilor in the 2024 Local Elections in the Dundalk-Carlingford LEA. He was the first independent in this region in over a decade - and to some, after a very late announcement, he was a surprise candidate and success story.
He is a proud Dundalk man who is passionate about the town and this county. He advocates to make sure your council hears your voice and the issues in your localities.
Ciarán grew up in Drive 2 Muirehevanamor and attended Gaelscoil DhúnDealgan. His family moved to Pearse Park when he started Secondary School at Coláiste Rís.
Ciarán would go on to study in UCD obtaining a BA/MA in Liberal Arts and a first class Masters in Modern European studies before pursuing a career in teaching.
He has taught in Coláiste Chú Chulainn, Dundalk for over a decade.
Ciarán lives in the town center with his Fiancée Emma, his daughter Lara, son Bran and his two rescue greyhounds (Maud and Cyril). The work of Dundalk Dog rescue and the pound is important to him.
He has played football for St Dominics, Dundalk Gaels and Bellurgan United over the years and coached at a variety of levels and age groups too. Ensuring the people of Dundalk are well served by sporting and recreational facilities is a priority aim of his.
Ciarán volunteers with Dundalk Tidy Towns and the Meals on Wheels through Dundalk Lion's Club.
Since being elected, Ciarán has sat on the board of the Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) and An Táin Arts Centre. He was also appointed to the Placenames Committee and the SPC for Planning.
